2/8/12  Our daycare and lodging dogs went nose-to-nose in our exciting and fun Puppy Bowl!  The winner was the official Pet Dominion Puppy Prediction for last Sunday's Super Bowl.  Not only did the Growlers win (representing the Giants), but the pups final score was 24-17 (just points away from the final score of 21-17 from Sunday's big game)!  Our doggies sure know their stuff!  You can watch news coverage of the event HERE.  Check out more videos HERE and pictures from the event HERE.

11/15/11  The Capital Cat Fanciers show came to the Montgomery County Fairgrounds, Nov.12th & 13th and Pet Dominion was there! We met gorgeous Somalis, Maus, Burmese, Persians, Tonkanese, Maine Coons, Chartreux...  so many exotic and domestic breeds alike.  Local groups like Siamese Rescue were also on hand to place kittens in good homes.  Pet Dominion visited with kitties from all over, including this fluffy, well-groomed champion "Twigs." Congratulations to our prize winners, "Brownie" and "Tabasco"!

10/13/11  Since our Nip Knots have been such a success with our feline friends in lodging, we decided to make them available to all Pet Dominion kitties!  The homemade fabric knots are marinated in cat nip.  They are for sale up front, so be sure to stop in and pick up a 4-pack for your feline friend!  We are also happy to announce that we have a pet-themed line of greeting cards for sale.  The line, Cards by Linda, features pictures of adorable furry friends covering all different occasions.  Net proceeds from the sale of these cards will benefit local animal non-profits.

 

 

9/27/11  We're happy to announce that all kitties staying with us in our lodging facility are now receiving "Nip Knots" during their stay.  The homemade fabric knots are marinated in catnip.  They have quickly become a cat favorite here at Pet Dominion!  Our vet tech Pam came up with the knots, and they are receiving two paws up from our feline guests.  We have samples up front, so be sure to check them out the next time you're here.  And don't forget to book your cat's next stay with us so she can take advantage of Pet Dominion's latest fun activity!  

 

9/15/11  A big "Thank You" to everyone who visited our table in the Pet Zone at the Adams Morgan Day Festival!  Pam and Lisa had a wonderful afternoon giving away goodies and answering questions as local residents came out for this exciting community gathering.  We found out many of you work in this area, and look forward to seeing your furry friends for daycare and play dates.  Congratulations to our Grand Prize winners, "Tilly" and "Hannah" who won 2 night stays in our luxurious accommodations, complete with Platinum Activity and Premium Bath Packages. 8/30/11  Pet Dominion is excited to offer classes for AKC's Canine Good Citizen program (CGC).  Our very own Jennifer Buzby is a certified CGC Evaluator and will be holding classes beginning next month.  The program is designed to reward dogs with good manners, and it lays the groundwork for other AKC activities such as obedience, agility, tracking and performance events.  The 60-minute classes will be held here at Pet Dominion for seven weeks.  Dogs must be at least 6 months old, current on vaccines and not aggressive.  For more information, including how to sign-up, see one of our front desk staff members or give us a call at 301-258-0333. 

8/24/11  It's back to school time for your kids, but what about your pets?  Pet Dominion offers daycare Monday through Saturday.  While you're away for the day, your dog will spend quality time with our caring staff.  He'll also run around and play with other energetic dogs on our playground equipment and in our fenced yards.  For more information, please give us a call at 301-258-0333.   

8/8/11  With flea and tick season in full swing, it's a good time to make sure your pet is protected from these pesky parasites.  For the best protection, your furry friend should be on a preventative that guards against both external (fleas and ticks) and internal (heartworm) parasites or a combination of two preventatives that work together to keep your pet safe.  Our very own Dr. Michael Bassett talks about the importance of prevention and why getting it from your vet could save you in the long run in a featured article on the web site AngiesList.com.  Click on over to Angie's List to learn how to best protect your pet.

5/26/11  Save the date!!  Pet Dominion lodging will open its pool next Wednesday, June 1st!  Whether your dog likes to splash around in our in-ground pool or frolick in our sprinklers, Pet Dominion's pool and water play is a fun activity that our lodging dogs love.  And it's availbale for both overnight and daycare guests.  Starting this Wednesday, be sure to request pool play at check-in for your dog!  

5/10/11  Pet Dominion is now offering special frosty gourmet treats for the summer.  Developed by our vet tech Pam (and approved by Dr. Bassett), the treats are now available for our lodging guests.  They come in two different varieties: Pam's Pupsicles and Bones Du Jour.  Pam's Pupsicles are a frozen blend of vanilla yogurt, honey, peanut butter and bananas.  Bones Du Jour are hypo allergenic and made with vanilla yogurt, honey and bananas.  Both are included in all of our discounted activity packages or available a la cart.  Be sure to request them for your dog's next stay!

5/2/11  What do you get when you mix happy, bouncy dogs with an egg hunt, homemade frosty treats and our very own friendly bunny?  Pet Dominion's Spring Egg-Stravaganza, of course!  Lodging and daycare dogs had their picture taken with our bunny (for a small donation with proceeds benefiting Japan Earthquake Rescue and Support), sniffed out lodging coupons during our egg hunt and sampled our new summer homemade frosty treats.  We have all the can't-miss pictures in our photo gallery (Spring Egg-Stravaganza photos are located beneath the Virtual Tour photos).   

4/14/11  Pet Dominion is excited to announce that we will be holding a Spring Egg-Stavaganza for all dogs staying in our lodging facility Wednesday, April 20th (either overnight or in daycare)!  Bring your canine friend for a great day of fun as we play outside and hunt for treats.  The "Spring Bunny" will be on hand to pose for photos with your furry pal for a $10.00 donation.  Proceeds go to Japan Earthquake Animal Rescue and Support.  Donations can be made by cash or check (checks should be made payable to Pet Dominion).  Be sure to sign-up for your dog's photo with the Spring Bunny.  Space is limited, so reserve your spot today!   

4/12/11  They're baaack!!  Those pesky fleas and ticks may be infesting your furry family members if you're not using prevention.  But it isn't just the visible parasites that you should be worried about with your dogs and cats.  The return of the warm weather means an increased risk for heartworm and other internal parasites.  Heartworms are spread through the bite of a mosquito, so be sure your dog is current on his/her heartworm test and both your dogs and your cats are using heartworm and flea prevention.  Pet Dominion sells Revolution (heartworm, flea & tick prevention), Interceptor (heartworm & internal parasite prevention), and Frontline (flea/tick prevention).  Give us call for more information at 301-258-0333, and we'll be more than happy to get your pets on the path to prevention.

4/4/11  Spring has (finally) sprung!  If you're like most pet owners, that means more outside time with your furry friend.  It can also mean contact with plants and flowers in bloom.  There are some precautions to take before allowing your dog or cat to play with or eat some popular spring blooms.  The ASPCA has a list of the most common toxic plants for your pets.  Tops on their list: Lilies.  The popular plants are very toxic to cats, and even small amounts can cause severe kidney damage.  For more plants to avoid, check out the ASPCA's list of "17 Poisonous Plants".

3/23/11  Last Thursday, Pet Dominion celebrated St. Pawtrick's Day with some of our day care buddies.  They may not be Irish, but these four-legged friends had a blast during our Leprechaun hunt and outdoor story time and enjoyed eating our special cabbage treats.  Check out their adorable pictures in our photo gallery (St. Pawtrick's Day photos are located beneath the Virtual Tour photos).   

3/22/11  Pet Dominion is excited to announce that we now offer our popular day care service on Saturdays!  Going shopping?  Seeing the sights in D.C.?  Doing work at home?  Drop your furry friends off with us for the day for some fun and exercise.  Day care is available during our regular Saturday business hours from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., and both dogs AND cats can spend the day with us.  No reservation is required, but be sure your pet is up-to-date on his/her vaccinations.  For more information, please give us a call at 301-258-0333. 

3/13/11 Welcome to Pet Dominion's new home on the web!  Be sure to check out our new virtual tour featuring some furry friends having fun in our lodging accommodations.  And don't forget to check-in with your pet portal by clicking the link on the top of the site.  From there, you can access your pet's vaccine records, schedule an appointment and request a prescription refill.  Don't have a pet portal yet?  No problem.  Follow the prompts from that link and we'll be happy to get you started.
