Bethany is pictured with Harvey, her baby and the love of her life, and Kirby, her husband's Aussie.

Dr. Bethany Garrison has been Pet Dominion’s associate veterinarian since graduation from Virginia Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 2005. Bethany grew up in Northern VA surrounded by dogs, cats and rabbits. Her Mother told us her first word was "DOG"! She often jokes that she married her high school sweetheart to avoid ever losing Kirby, his Australian Shepherd. However, the four-legged love of her life is Harvey, a truly awesome Australian Shepherd. He has been her constant companion since he was a puppy. Bethany also has two long-haired kitties, Puffycat and Teddy, a flame point Himalayan.

Her veterinary interests include ultrasonography, surgery and senior care. Dr. Garrison has attended advanced instruction in soft tissue surgery focusing on gastro-intestinal, urinary tract and deep ear surgery.  Now she can perform a number of complex surgeries that were previously referred to specialists.  These include removing kidneys or kidney stones, removing and re-attaching sections of small intestine, complex feline urinary tract surgery (cystotomy and urethrotomy) and ear surgery (canal widening and polyp removal).  Dr. Garrison is not only a gifted surgeon, but empathizes with the owner’s anxiety having gone through a urethrotomy with one of her own cats, Teddy.

Her pets are the focal point of her life and she treats each patient as if they were her own pet.  Every morning before work she takes her two Aussies, Harvey and Kirby, to a park for exercise and field training.  Last summer she and Kirby spent a week practicing obedience and agility at camp ‘Gone To The Dogs’ in Vermont.  She even hand-made his "sheep" outfit for the costume party finale.
