Preparing for your first puppy/kitten visit
Congratulations on your new puppy or kitten!
On your first visit we will give you a puppy or kitten kit full of pertinent information on raising a healthy and well behaved pet. Our technicians and doctors can answer questions that may have already come up and make recommendations on diet, grooming, or anything elso you may need.
Remember to bring any records of vet visits or vaccinations that your youngster has already received. We will review their history and discuss the vaccine protocol that we recommend. We will also discuss any testing they may need. We always test for intestinal parasites and may want to run a Feleuk/FIV test on your kitten if they haven't already been tested.
Puppies and kittens will need to visit the vet every 3-4 weeks until they are 4 months old. During these visits they will receive vaccine boosters so that they can achieve immunity against those diseases. We will administer a dewormer and also give them an application of heartworm preventative. We will also track their weight and make sure they have a good body condition. During these visits feel free to pick our brains about any concerns you may have.
The following is a checklist of items you will need to bring to your first visit:
1) Vaccine and health records
2) A fecal sample for both puppies and kittens fresh from that day
3) A list of questions and concerns
4) Your new little furry pal!
